God Doesn’t Want Your Money

41 Jesus sat down near the collection box in the Temple and watched as the crowds dropped in their money. Many rich people put in large amounts. 42 Then a poor widow came and dropped in two small coins. 43 Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has given more than all the others who are making contributions. 44 For they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she had to live on.” Mark 12:41-44

Many think that God wants our money. But God is interested in something much bigger than our wallet, He wants our heart. Why did the widow “give” more then all the others? It was because she gave with her whole heart. It had nothing to do with what she gave but the attitude she gave it with.

Our money and our heart are often tied so closely together. In order for us to give our hearts to God we have to untie the two. There’s no better way to do this then being generous. We were never meant to hold onto things as tightly as we do. It’s time we be generous and untie our hearts and our wallets. How can you be generous today?
